Course Overview
HiQual UK Level 6 Diploma in Civil Surveying is an advanced professional qualification designed to develop technical and analytical competence in land surveying, engineering surveying, geomatics, geodesy, digital mapping and construction-related measurement. The programme develops the ability to plan and undertake accurate surveys, establish control networks, collect and process spatial data, interpret survey information and produce professional surveying outputs for civil engineering, infrastructure, construction and land-development projects.
The qualification incorporates contemporary surveying technologies and professional practices including GNSS, total stations, digital levels, 3D data acquisition, GIS, CAD, remote sensing, photogrammetry, digital terrain modelling, engineering setting-out and surveying quality control. Its structure reflects key areas identified by UK surveying and geospatial professional frameworks, including measurement, engineering surveying, geodesy, GIS, surveying and mapping, cadastre and land administration, remote sensing and photogrammetry, legal/regulatory compliance and professional practice. RICS
The qualification is designed as a substantial three-year Level 6 programme comparable in overall academic volume to UK three-year higher-education surveying programmes, while maintaining a vocational and professionally focused civil surveying emphasis. UK undergraduate programmes commonly comprise 360 credits over three years, and current UK geospatial surveying frameworks identify Level 6 professional occupations covering advanced geospatial and surveying practice.
