Course Overview

1. Introduction to Electrical Safety
Understanding the importance of electrical safety, basic principles of electricity, and common electrical hazards.
2. Legal and Regulatory Requirements
Overview of electrical safety standards, codes of practice, and employer/employee responsibilities.
3. Electrical Hazards and Risk Assessment
Identifying shock, arc flash, and fire hazards, and learning how to assess and control associated risks.
4. Safe Work Practices and Procedures
Implementing safe methods for working with live and de-energized circuits, tools, and equipment.
5. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Systems
Learning isolation procedures to prevent accidental energization during maintenance or repair.
6. Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Equipment
Conducting routine inspections and ensuring compliance with safety requirements for electrical tools and systems.
7. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Selecting and using appropriate PPE, including insulating gloves, arc-rated clothing, and face shields.
8. Emergency Response and First Aid
Responding effectively to electrical incidents, shocks, and burns, and applying first aid measures.
